Schools Recycling Programme

The Schools Recycling Programme is meant to introduce children of all ages, along with the entire school community, in the primary and secondary schools to the importance of waste minimisation through the use of the 3R’s i.e. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. The greatest emphasis in this case is on Recycling where students, teachers and ancillary staff are encouraged to separate their recyclables from other wastes.  The separated recyclables are then collected by a local private recyclers/waste brokers and ultimately shipped for sale off island.  The resulting advantage is great as less waste is destined to landfill and simultaneously extending the life if the landfill.

These images represent Holy Innocents Primary School’s recycling and environmental programme. It is one of many structured recycling programmes in the primary schools on the island.
